Shopkins

Digital

This interactive overlay lets the user learn more about the Shopkins characters with individual bios and video clips from their cartoon. I worked on the static designs for this unit. After the designs were approved, the animation and development were outsourced to the Phillippines. The video demo along with static mocks are below.

Here are a few frames from the mocks. When the user rolls over a character, they can see its name and click to see its bio. The video section also gives the user 3 different clips to watch.

Here is the video demo that shows the animation transitions among the sections. The bios of all the other characters and some sample clips is also in the demo.

Act of Valor

Digital

For the Act of Valor movie, I worked on designing a hub on CraveOnline where you could play interactive shooter games and view clips/trailers from the film. There are 3 different levels of gameplay integrated into this hub with different missions. There are also different endings depending on the mission you choose and whether you could complete it. Below are a few frames of the static mocks I worked on for this project.

This is the landing screen of the hub where you click on Start Mission to play the game. On the bottom is a sub navigation that lets you view other sections of the hub.

This is the mission screen where it lets the user choose which mission to play.

The first mission the user could choose is shooting down enemy river boats.

The second mission the user could choose is sniping terrorists at a warehouse in night vision.

The third mission is shooting down enemy Jeeps in a forest.

Here is a sample end frame you get from completing Mission 1. There are different screens for the other two missions and a lose screen if the user couldn’t complete the mission.

These are the ads running across multiple affiliate sites that promote the game and click through to the hub.

Muppets Most Wanted

Digital

This is a memory game overlay that was centered around the Muppets. Each successful character match rewards the user a green screen clip of the character doing something silly. After matching all of them, you get to see the movie trailer and the option to play again. I worked on the static designs of this unit and the client supplied the imagery and video assets for me to work with. The game development was later outsourced to Mexico.

Here are some of the frames of my mocks.

Here is a video demo to show what the gameplay looks like.

TheFashionSpot

Animation

TheFashionSpot is a site for the latest in runway reviews, celebrity style, fashion beauty trends, and much more. A while back, they redesigned their site where Cover Girl and Max Factor sponsored a floater unit to reveal the newly redesigned site. I worked on the animation of two floaters where the video demos are below.

I worked with a designer who created the static mocks where she explained how she wanted all the cosmetic items to be tossed around behind curtain. Below are some of the sample frames of the design.

This is the Max Factor version of the floater reveal. The animation was done with Flash and ActionScript.

This is the Cover Girl version of the floater reveal, where the client requested to remove the logo pattern from curtains on the final version.

Momtastic

Animation

Momtastic is a site for moms where it offers information about parenting, recipes, entertainment, health, and many other things.  When the Momtastic site was first built, there was a floater unit that revealed the soft launch of the site. I worked on the animation of the site where there’s a video demo below.

Here are a few storyboard frames from a designer I collaborated with on this project. The frames covered the different features the site has to offer.

Here is the video demo of the site which was animated in Flash at the time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Animation

This is a 3D destructive trailer where I was responsible for the animated effects coming out of the video. I used After Effects and Particle Illusion to animate on top of the video base and created a Flash overlay for this for the final delivery.

One of the designers on our team designed the static mocks and handed it off to me where it was ready for buildout. Below are a few sample frames from the storyboard.

Below is the final result of the animation.

Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Animation, Digital

This was a rich media unit where the user rolls over a spawning banner to expand a full page overlay. The leaderboard and MREC features the main cat and dog from the film floating around in their jet packs to engage the user. Once the unit has expanded, an animated intro of all the characters transitions in before it resolves to a video player for the trailer. This was animated in Flash and built out in Double Click Studio.

Here are the static mocks showcasing the storyboard frames of the unit.

Below is a screen recording of the animation.

E3 Crave Island

Digital, Print

E3 Crave Island was a massive online/offline campaign that took place during the 2012 E3 event in Los Angeles. I was responsible for all the creative tied to this where it involved creating the look and feel (including illustrating the pixel tiki characters), digital design (hub, web banners, photo booth backgrounds, video graphics) and print work (postcards, signage, tent). It was a great undertaking at the time, but it was also a project filled with passion because of my interest in video game culture. In the end, we achieved a robust campaign to promote the CraveOnline brand with a great activation event that attracted many visitors.

This is the website hub for the E3 Crave Island by CraveOnline. Visitors get to do lots of activities like take pictures at the photo booths, play video games against pro gamers, participate in cosplay competitions, and much more. I customized each section to fit the theme of the page to make it more fun while utilizing my 8-bit tiki character illustrations. The site has been archived to this URL after the event ended: E3 Crave Island Demo

Below are the web banners driving traffic to the site hub. They’re cobranded by CraveOnline and Speed Stick, who helped sponsor parts of the event.

This is the design work on the event tent. I worked with a third-party vendor who gave me specs on the dimensions they need, material they print on, and other various info. The carousel shows a photo of how the tent turned out along with the pieces that went with it (gable, sides, step&repeat, etc.)

This is the flier that promoted Crave Island where I styled it as a vacation postcard. CraveOnline reps were passing these out around the LA convention center to attract visitors to the activation center. Additionally, the stamp on the postcard has a custom QR design that sends a location map to the tent on their phones.

These are the signages placed around the area where they introduce the different sections of the tent. Each set came with the name of the section and a themed illustration to flank the section.

For the video graphics, I designed a title card intro that goes before each interview clip from the site. Below is the design that presented the event and sponsorship with more tiki fun!

These are the green screen backgrounds I designed for the onsite photo booth. Visitors can come and pose with fun, tropical props. After their pictures are taken, they get free printouts while their photos are uploaded onto the E3 Crave Island site in real-time.
