Kellogg’s Eggo

Digital

This was a game overlay I designed where the concept is similar to the Nokia phone game Snake. The user collects all the toppings given to complete an Eggo creation they chose on the intro screen. As they collect more and more toppings, their waffle chain gets longer and longer. If the user manages to collect all the toppings needed, they get a win screen with the Eggo creation image. If they crash into the obstacles or the edge, they will get a lose screen with the missing topping gaps. This unit received pretty good engagement where the client renewed another flight and added an additional recipe to the game.

This is the leaderboard ad that spawns the game overlay unit.

This is the intro screen to the game overlay. The user can select the Eggo creation they want to play.

This is the gameplay screen with the waffle chain collecting the toppings on the map. The forks are obstacles that need to be avoided.

This is the win screen with the completed Eggo creation.

This is the lose screen with some of the toppings missing, depending on what you collected from your gameplay.

This unit is cross device where I designed a mobile layout of the unit.

Here is a video demo on what the gameplay looks like on the desktop unit. The unit had a refresh where an additional third Eggo Creation was added to the options, which is shown below.

Crave Escape

Digital, Print

This was an activation event set up on the USS Midway during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2015. CraveOnline provided a great party for visitors with free food/drinks/swag, hosted an impressive cosplay competition and booked big bands like Cold War Kids to perform. I worked on all the design materials for this event which included multiple signage items and promotional materials.

This is the postcard for the event.

This is the e-mail flier for the event.

At the event, they set up multiple step and repeat patterns for visitors to have photo ops.

This is the cosplay stage where contestants walked through the runway to show their costumes to the judges and audience. Alienware sponsored this part of the event where we branded the stage trussing with their logo and messaging.

These are the signage items placed around different areas of the carrier ship. It helped visitors find their way around and know which lines to queue up for.

This is the main stage for the bands to perform on. Cold War Kids, Bad Suns, and Cathedral were booked to play for this event.

Honda Powersports

Animation, Digital

Honda wanted a fun game to promote their latest motorbike line-up. After brainstorming with them on a conference call, we decided to create a motocross game inspired by the NES classic Excite Bike. The premise of the game is to have the bikes race around the tracks collecting Honda points while jumping over dirt mounds under a time limit. Assets from the client were very limited, so I did my best with sourcing stock images and textures to create the arena while editing their bike images for the game. Afterwards, I worked on the animation and collaborated with a developer in Mexico to program the game.

This is the leaderboard that spawns the overlay game.

Once the overlay expands, the user will see an intro screen with instructions on the gameplay controls.

This screen lets you choose the bike you want to ride where you have three different options.

Here’s a sample gameplay screen with the motorbike and arena environment. The user can speed up and slow down while they control the motorbike rider.

The game has three different outcomes, depending on how many Honda points you’ve collected.

Here is a video of the game demo.

FX Legion

Digital

For the Legion TV series, I designed a temporary tattoo takeover that ran with a parallax reskin and logo takeover on ComingSoon.net. The tattoo had a separate CSS style sheet that enabled the site to run with custom colors that go with the client’s key art creative. For the reskin, the gutters transition through all the main characters of the show as the user scrolls down to view the site content. As for the logo, it changes between the ComingSoon logo and the Legion title treatment.

Here is a mockup of the site along with a video demo below it.

E3/Comic-Con Crave Invasion

Digital, Print

Crave Invasion was a huge online/offline campaign that covered the E3 and Comic-Con conventions in the summer of 2013. Their sponsor is TNT who were promoting their Falling Skies tv series. I worked on all the design work for this campaign which included digital ads and print materials for the event. Below are design samples from both E3 and Comic-Con.

CraveOnline has set up an activation center outside of the LA Convention Center for E3. Below are some preliminary designs with some signage that went with the tent.

This is the website hub that covered the event.

Here are some of the backgrounds I put together for the green screen photo booth at the event.

These are the graphics used for the video coverage of the event, which are composed of a title screen and lower third.

This is the e-mail invitation that were sent out to the media to attend the event.

This is the front and back sides of the postcard that was passed out to E3 visitors.

For Comic-Con, the focus is on the bus that traveled down from LA to San Diego. An activation event was set up near Petco Park where visitors can line up to go through the bus and collect free swag. Here are the designs for the truck along with photos of how the vehicle came out.

This is the hub for the Comic-Con coverage along with cobrand banners to drive traffic to it.

And lastly, these are the front and back sides for the Comic-Con postcard promoting this event.

Yowie World

Digital

Yowie is a chocolate brand that originated in Australia. Their chocolate eggs come with collectible toy figurines of animals and Yowie characters inside. For this unit, I designed a game overlay where you match 3 characters in a row to clear tiles and collect points. Since these characters come in different colors, it works as the perfect concept for this type of gameplay.

Here is the leaderboard ad unit that spawns the game on roll over.

Here is the intro screen with gameplay instructions.

This is the gameplay screen. The user needs to match as many Yowie characters as they can to clear the tiles under the time limit.

This is the end frame with your final score. You can also view the trailer and click to play the game again.

Shopkins

Digital

This interactive overlay lets the user learn more about the Shopkins characters with individual bios and video clips from their cartoon. I worked on the static designs for this unit. After the designs were approved, the animation and development were outsourced to the Phillippines. The video demo along with static mocks are below.

Here are a few frames from the mocks. When the user rolls over a character, they can see its name and click to see its bio. The video section also gives the user 3 different clips to watch.

Here is the video demo that shows the animation transitions among the sections. The bios of all the other characters and some sample clips is also in the demo.

Act of Valor

Digital

For the Act of Valor movie, I worked on designing a hub on CraveOnline where you could play interactive shooter games and view clips/trailers from the film. There are 3 different levels of gameplay integrated into this hub with different missions. There are also different endings depending on the mission you choose and whether you could complete it. Below are a few frames of the static mocks I worked on for this project.

This is the landing screen of the hub where you click on Start Mission to play the game. On the bottom is a sub navigation that lets you view other sections of the hub.

This is the mission screen where it lets the user choose which mission to play.

The first mission the user could choose is shooting down enemy river boats.

The second mission the user could choose is sniping terrorists at a warehouse in night vision.

The third mission is shooting down enemy Jeeps in a forest.

Here is a sample end frame you get from completing Mission 1. There are different screens for the other two missions and a lose screen if the user couldn’t complete the mission.

These are the ads running across multiple affiliate sites that promote the game and click through to the hub.

Muppets Most Wanted

Digital

This is a memory game overlay that was centered around the Muppets. Each successful character match rewards the user a green screen clip of the character doing something silly. After matching all of them, you get to see the movie trailer and the option to play again. I worked on the static designs of this unit and the client supplied the imagery and video assets for me to work with. The game development was later outsourced to Mexico.

Here are some of the frames of my mocks.

Here is a video demo to show what the gameplay looks like.

Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Animation, Digital

This was a rich media unit where the user rolls over a spawning banner to expand a full page overlay. The leaderboard and MREC features the main cat and dog from the film floating around in their jet packs to engage the user. Once the unit has expanded, an animated intro of all the characters transitions in before it resolves to a video player for the trailer. This was animated in Flash and built out in Double Click Studio.

Here are the static mocks showcasing the storyboard frames of the unit.

Below is a screen recording of the animation.
